How can you tell the difference?

Visual Signs of a Deepfake

Sense of Intuition

  • Ask yourself: Would someone realistically say this to me? Is what I am hearing possible?

    • If the answer is NO to the slightest extent, DO NOT TRUST what you are seeing.

  • Ex. Elon Musk is offering walk-in jobs paying six figures. Start by providing your social security number

    • This is TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, and hence, you should not trust it or provide any sensitive information!

Eye Movements

  • Ask yourself: Do the eye movements seem unnatural?

    • Ex. Lack of blinking or robotic blinking patterns

Background & Quality

  • Be on the lookout for inconsistencies, such as floating objects or misplaced items

  • Is the quality of the video or image extremely poor?

    • If you notice either of the above signs, you may be encountering an AI-generated video
